Use these statements to connect each session of Bible Studies for Life: Kids to Christ as you teach your children each week.
Unit 1, Session 1: Prophecy of a Son
God’s plan to save people from sin and death was not a secret plan. God used the prophets to give hope to His people. The prophets said God would send a Messiah—born into the world as a baby—to live the perfect life people fail to live and die the guilty death we deserve.
Unit 1, Session 2: News for Mary and Joseph
The baby Jesus fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy, as well as other Old Testament prophecies, about the coming Savior. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus fulfilled God’s plan of redemption that God planned before the world began.
Unit 1, Session 3: A Savior’s Birth
The birth of Jesus was good news! Jesus was not an ordinary baby. He was God’s Son, sent to earth from heaven. Jesus came into the world to save people from their sins and to be their King.
Unit 1, Session 4: Escape to Egypt
The wise men came to worship Jesus as King. Jesus is the King who will rule forever, as God promised to King David in 2 Samuel 7. Jesus is the true King who is worthy of all our worship.
Unit 1, Session 5: Jesus and the Teachers
Even as a child, Jesus wanted to do His Father’s plan. As Jesus grew up, He became strong and wise. God blessed Jesus as He got ready to follow His Father’s plan: to die on the cross and rescue people from sin.
Unit 2, Session 1: King David Thanked God
God promised David that every future king of Israel would come from David’s family, and David’s kingdom would last forever. God kept His promise by sending His Son, Jesus, as one of David’s descendants. Jesus is our King who will never die; He will rule over God’s people forever.
Unit 2, Session 2: God Protected Elijah
Some people did not like Elijah, and they wanted to hurt him because he worshiped God. Elijah was a prophet, and communicated with the people what God was saying. Elijah was not the Savior, but his life reminds us of Jesus, the greatest Prophet. Jesus was hated by people and killed because He is God the Son. But unlike any other person, He rose from death and defeated the grave!
Unit 2, Session 3: People Praised God
God called his people in the Old Testament to worship Him by building a special altar, gathering there, and singing praises to Him. Many years later, God sent His Son, Jesus, to be with His people. Now, because of Jesus, God’s people don’t have to go anywhere specific to worship Him. We can worship Him anywhere!
Unit 2, Session 4: Jesus Prayed in a Garden
When Jesus was on earth, He prayed that God’s will would be done. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus brought glory to God by rescuing people from sin and death.
Unit 3, Session 1: David Spared Saul
David refused to harm Saul, God’s chosen leader. Often, people have conflicts and look for ways to hurt others, both physically and in other ways. But God calls us to show grace and mercy. Jesus showed grace and mercy to us by giving Himself as a sacrifice for our sins.
Unit 3, Session 2: David, Nabal, and Abigail
David planned on punishing Nabal for his treatment of David’s men. But because of Abigail’s intervention on Nabal’s behalf, David did not punish Nabal. We deserve God’s punishment because of our sins, but because Jesus died for our sins, we can escape God’s punishment.
Unit 3, Session 3: Samson
Samson’s sin led to his own death, but God used his death to deliver the Israelites from their enemies. Samson’s story reminds us of Jesus. Jesus never sinned, but God sent Him to die on the cross and rise again to rescue believers from sin and give them eternal life.
Unit 3, Session 4: Nehemiah Rebuilt Jerusalem’s Wall
Nehemiah led the people to rebuild the walls around Jerusalem to protect them from their enemies. Jesus came to protect us from our enemies. He died on the cross and rose from the dead to rescue people from sin and death.
