The Free Book of the Month from Logos focuses on Systematic Theology. For the first half of May 2025, you can add David Hall, Calvin in the Public Square: Liberal Democracies, Rights, and Civil Liberties (The Calvin 500 Series) to your Logos library for free. This volume examines Calvin’s thought and impact on political ideas. It not only sets forth the Reformer’s political ideas in his own words from multiple sources but also shows how his disciples furthered and spread his germinal political ideas, both in Europe and to the West.
In addition to the free book, there is a wide range of discounted books this month:

An Introduction to the New Covenant (Tyndale Theological Seminary, 2013) is a rare dispensational book for a Logos promotion. Maybe Logos was looking to balance out the reformed theology on the list (or they didn’t notice?) God’s Word for Our World (T&T Clark, 2004) is a collection of essays on Old Testament topics. Don’t forget that Logos subscribers save an additional 5% on these already discounted books. This Logos Free Book of the Month promotion runs through May 15. Look for a new free book on May 15 at 9:00 AM PST.
It is always a good time to get a new Logos Subscription. Although some are upset with the changes in the pricing model, there is nothing to fear. Essentially, you are paying what you would have once every two years for the old-model upgrades. This new subscription plan allows Logos to push new features every few months rather than one big upgrade every two years. A new version came out last week with several improvements and additional features. Here is a short video on the new SmartSearch feature.
Even if you do not subscribe to Logos, you keep all your previously purchased books. Nobody will lose anything for not getting a subscription. You do not need to upgrade to a subscription model. If you upgrade, you will get access to some cool new AI tools, which may or may not be necessary. They just added a Bible Study tool (like their sermon prep tool) that scrapes questions from your library to help generate a Bible Study or discussion.
As always, you can use the (free) basic edition or the inexpensive Fundamentals collection to use these free and discounted books. If you do not already have Logos, you can save on Logos Subscriptions. Check out my first-look review of Logos 10.
