Logos Free Book of the Month

For the second half of May 2025, Logos partners with Eerdmans to offer a free copy of The Trinity among the Nations: The Doctrine of God in the Majority World, edited by Gene L. Green, Stephen T. Pardue, and Yeo Khiok-khng (Eerdmans, 2015). This collection of essays focuses on the character and work of God in various cultural contexts. The essays highlight global trends in trinitarian theology concerning historic Christian confessions, especially the Nicene Creed, and implications of the doctrine of God for the church and Christian living today.

  1. “Trinity 101: Kaleidoscopic Views of God in the Majority World,” by K.K. Yeo
  2. “One God in Trinity and Trinity in Unity,” by Gerald Bray
  3. “Beyond Homoiousios and Homoousios: Exploring North American Indigenous Concepts of the Shalom Community of God,” by Randy S. Woodley
  4. “The Trinity in Africa: Trends and Trajectories,” by Samuel Waje Kunhiyop
  5. “The Trinity as Gospel,” by Antonio González
  6. “Learning to See Jesus with the Eyes of the Spirit: The Unlikely Prophets of God’s Reign,” by C. Rosalee Velloso Ewell
  7. “Asian Reformulations of the Trinity: An Evaluation,” by Natee Tanchanpongs
  8. “Motherliness of God: A Search for Maternal Aspects in Paul’s Theology,” by Atsuhiro Asano
  9. “How to Understand a Biblical God in Chinese: Toward a Cross-Cultural Biblical Hermeneutics,” by Zi Wang

Logos sticks with an international, theological theme for the discounted books for the month:

  • Curtis Vaughan, Acts (Founders Study Guide Commentary), $2.99
  • John Piper, Finally Alive, $3.99
  • Peter H. W. Lau, Esther: A Pastoral and Contextual Commentary (Asia Bible Commentary), $4.99
  • Willis Horst, Ute Paul, and Frank Paul, Mission without Conquest: An Alternative Missionary Practice (Global Perspectives Series), $5.99
  • David Smith, Seeking a City with Foundations: Theology for an Urban World, $6.99
  • Daniel G. Oprean, Theology of Participation: A Conversation of Traditions, $7.99
  • Richard C. Gamble, The Whole Counsel of God, Volume 1: God’s Mighty Acts in the Old Testament, $8.99
  • S. R. Driver, Job (ICC), $9.99
  • John Behr, The Nicene Faith, Parts 1 and 2 (Formation of Christian Theology), $10.99
  • Peter W. Martens, Origen and Scripture: The Contours of the Exegetical Life (Oxford Early Christian Studies), $11.99

This list includes some gems, including several Langham publications. Langham Publishing is an international academic and professional publisher focusing on the global church. I always enjoy browsing their booth at SBL and have purchased several of their monographs over the years. Lau’s Esther commentary is very good, as is Oprean’s Theology of Participation. Don’t forget, Logos subscribers get an additional 5% off these prices.

This Logos Free Book of the Month promotion runs through May 31. A new free book will be available on June 1 at 9:00 a.m. PST.

It is always a good time to get a new Logos Subscription. Although some are upset with the changes in the pricing model, there is nothing to fear. Essentially, you are paying what you would have once every two years for the old-model upgrades. This new subscription plan allows Logos to push new features every few months rather than one big upgrade every two years. In fact, a new version came out last week with several improvements and additional features. Here is a short video on the new SmartSearch feature.

Even if you do not subscribe to Logos, you keep all your previously purchased books. Nobody will lose anything for not getting a subscription. You do not need to upgrade to a subscription model. If you upgrade, you will get access to some cool new AI tools, which may or may not be necessary. They just added a Bible Study tool (like their sermon prep tool) that scrapes questions from your library to help generate a Bible Study or discussion.

As always, you can use the (free) basic edition or the inexpensive Fundamentals collection to use these free and discounted books. If you do not already have Logos, you can save on Logos Subscriptions.  Check out my first-look review of Logos 10.
