How God Loves the Brokenhearted Not the Perfect

4 days ago 13

So many people believe they have to be put together before God can truly love them. They think faith is for the strong the steady and the spiritually successful. When life breaks their heart they assume God must be disappointed or distant.

But Scripture tells us the opposite.

God is not drawn to perfection. He is drawn to broken hearts. Psalm 34:18 says The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit God moves toward pain not away from it.

Being brokenhearted does not disqualify you from God’s love. It positions you to receive it. In Psalm 51:17 David writes A broken and contrite heart O God You will not despise God does not reject people who come to Him wounded and honest. He welcomes them.

Jesus consistently loved those the world overlooked. He healed the hurting touched the rejected and defended the ashamed. In Matthew 9:12 Jesus said It is not the healthy who need a doctor but the sick God’s love is not for those who think they are fine but for those who know they are not.

Perfection creates distance. Brokenness creates connection. Second Corinthians 12:9 reminds us that God’s power is made perfect in weakness When you are broken God’s strength becomes visible not hidden.

God never asked you to fix yourself before coming to Him. Isaiah 61:1 tells us that God came to bind up the brokenhearted and bring freedom to the captive Healing begins when we stop pretending and start trusting.

If you feel broken today know this. God is not waiting for you to be whole. He is meeting you right in the middle of your pain. His love is gentle patient and deep enough to heal what feels beyond repair.

You do not have to be perfect
You only have to be honest
And God’s love will meet you exactly where you are.
