The elder apostle John applauds Gaius for following the truth. He commends him for walking faithfully in the truth of God’s Word.
Think of living in the truth as being on a journey. You have a destination and a map. If you’re distracted by a row of dazzling fast-food restaurants, an alleged shortcut through the desert, or a rest stop offering pleasures that will slow you down, you’re not on course and may not make it home.
But if you’ve packed light, are alert to the road signs, and are committed to following the directions given by your leader, you’re heading toward the goal. In navigational terms, you are true to the course.
God calls each of us to faithful service, directed by the Bible, enabled by the Holy Spirit, and led by the Lord Jesus. We are true if we follow obediently, as Gaius did.
3 John 3 – 3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
