The Art of Speed– Part Five

Classical education involved not only required study of Christian sources, but also classical literature as well.  It is only in the 20th century that the requirement to study the Greek and Latin classics became optional in America, less so in Europe.   The artists simply followed the lead of the educational programs in major university, since most art was for museums, the socially elite and well educated, and occasionally for universities that had major museums.
