There are moments when you look at your life and feel unworthy of God’s love. You remember past mistakes present struggles and the ways you fall short. Shame creeps in and tells you that God must be disappointed or distant because of who you are or what you have done.
But God’s love has never been based on worthiness.
The Bible makes this clear in Romans 5:8 God demonstrates His own love for us in this While we were still sinners Christ died for us God did not wait for you to clean yourself up before loving you. His love met you right where you were.
Feeling unworthy is something many people in Scripture experienced. The apostle Paul called himself the chief of sinners yet he was chosen and used powerfully by God. In First Timothy 1:15 to 16 Paul explains that God showed him mercy to display unlimited patience. If God’s love reached Paul it can reach you.
Shame often tells us to hide from God. But God invites us closer. Hebrews 4:16 encourages us to approach God’s throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need God’s grace is not something you earn. It is something you receive.
Even when you struggle to forgive yourself God has already forgiven you. Psalm 103:12 says As far as the east is from the west so far has He removed our transgressions from us God does not hold your past over your head. When He looks at you He sees you through the love of Christ.
Jesus showed us this love through the way He treated people. He welcomed sinners ate with the broken and defended those others rejected. John 6:37 says Whoever comes to Me I will never drive away That promise includes you no matter how unworthy you feel.
Unworthiness fades when you understand grace. Ephesians 2:8 to 9 reminds us that salvation is by grace through faith not by works so that no one can boast God’s love is not a reward. It is a gift.
If you feel unworthy today let this truth sink in. God’s love is stronger than your shame. You are not rejected. You are chosen forgiven and deeply loved.
You do not have to earn His love
You do not have to prove yourself
You only need to receive what God has already given.
