Watchful: Unchanging Truth for an Uncertain World

Dear Friend,

My children introduced me to Waze to help me when I’m traveling. If you’ve used this navigational app, you’ll be familiar with hearing the voice say, “Watch out!” It also instructs the driver to “take a break” and to “stay alert.”

In the Bible, we find a similar exhortation where Paul urges his readers to “be watchful” and “stand firm in the faith” (1 Cor. 16:13).

I recently read a New York Times article that reported that religious apps and chatbots are growing in popularity because they “promise answers to the unknowable, encounters with the mysterious, and communion with the divine”—all in about three seconds. Here is a compelling reason for us to be watchful and stand firm in the truth of God’s Word.

Paul was alert to the challenges of his day. The spiritual cluelessness of the citizens in Athens who worshipped an “unknown God” stirred him to proclaim “the God who made the world and everything in it” (Acts 17:24). He seized the opportunity to make known to them Jesus, the resurrected Lord and Savior.

I think we can safely assume that if Paul were present today, the growing popularity of AI-powered chatbots offering instant answers to “spiritual” questions would ignite a flame in him to reach as many as possible with the good news that “this Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ” (Acts 17:3).

Our team here at Truth For Life is equally motivated. For thirty years, we’ve intentionally invested in mainstream media to deliver biblical truth to the heart of popular culture. We’re committed to bringing God’s unchanging, eternal Word to people looking for answers they can trust through whatever channel they’re using, whether it’s YouTube, streaming TV, social media, Apple or Spotify podcasts, radio, or any other widely used platform.

We are eager to explore new opportunities that expand our reach, allowing our teaching to continue as a trusted voice of truth that is easily accessible and free to all.

As you are aware, however, these investments require resources. We rely upon your faithful support and partnership to move forward. I am confident that you will include us in your year-end giving. I think it is fair to say that the digital and radio airwaves are “ripe for harvest.”

With my love in the Lord Jesus,

Alistair
