The Wesley Heritage Tour–The Last Day2 2026-10-04T13:11:24-04:00 Ben Witherington Though the sites were interesting, what was remarkable was that except for one day we had perfect, blue sky weather, and even in Oxford, it only rained a bit one afternoon. This was not the British weather I remembered from living in the UK for more than three years, even in 2013. It’s a beautiful place under such weather. So we were cruising from the Embankment near Big Ben (no not my father of that description), down to Greenwich, which is about an hour cruise going under various bridges including the Tower Bridge, and looking at all the new high rises which have sprung up like mushrooms mostly in the last 15 or so years and that includes the O– world’s slowest Ferris wheel. The first picture below is of the Cutty Sark, a replica of Sir Francis Drake’s famous ship (not to be confused with the alcoholic beverage named after it), Drake was a pirate/privateer who plundered gold from various places, brought it to Elizabeth I, was knighted for it on the south bank of the Thames heading towards Greenwich— yes that Greenwich as in the Mean Time, for all clocks.
