There is a shift taking place in America that is not always loud or aggressive but steady and persistent It is the rise of secularism a way of thinking that removes God from public life and often from personal decision making The question is not just whether secularism is increasing but what it truly represents Is it simply a change in perspective or is it a slow boycott of God
Secularism does not always openly deny God In many cases it simply pushes Him to the side It suggests that life can be lived fully without His presence or guidance This quiet removal can be more dangerous than outright rejection because it feels normal and acceptable Over time what was once central becomes optional and eventually forgotten
The Bible warns about this kind of mindset in Psalm 10:4 The wicked through the pride of his countenance will not seek after God God is not in all his thoughts This does not describe someone loudly opposing God but someone who simply no longer considers Him in daily life This is how a slow boycott begins not with rebellion but with indifference
Another sign of secularism is the belief that human reasoning is enough to guide life While knowledge and understanding are valuable they were never meant to replace God Proverbs 3:5 says Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding When people rely only on themselves they limit their perspective and often move further away from truth
Romans 1:22 gives insight into this condition Professing themselves to be wise they became fools This does not mean a lack of intelligence but a loss of spiritual awareness When God is removed even great knowledge can lead to confusion because it is not grounded in truth
Secularism also changes how truth is defined Instead of being absolute truth becomes personal shaped by feelings and opinions John 17:17 says Sanctify them through thy truth thy word is truth When God’s word is removed there is no longer a fixed standard and everything becomes open to interpretation
As this way of thinking spreads its effects become visible Morality shifts values change and spiritual hunger increases yet remains unsatisfied 2 Timothy 3:5 describes people having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof This reflects a culture that may still use religious language but lacks true connection to God
One of the most serious consequences of this slow boycott is spiritual blindness 2 Corinthians 4:4 says In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not When God is consistently pushed aside it becomes harder for people to see the truth even when it is right in front of them
Yet even in the rise of secularism God continues to call people back to Him Acts 17:27 says That they should seek the Lord if haply they might feel after him and find him though he be not far from every one of us This reminds us that God is still near even when He is ignored
The rise of secularism may appear to be progress to some but it raises a deeper concern It reflects a shift away from dependence on God toward dependence on self and society Over time this can become a quiet but powerful rejection
The question is not just whether secularism is increasing but whether it is shaping our own lives Are we including God in our thoughts decisions and values or are we slowly pushing Him out
Because a boycott does not always begin with a loud statement Sometimes it begins with silence and over time that silence can speak louder than words
