One of the greatest blessings of the blood of Jesus is that it opened the way for people to come into the presence of God. Before the cross, access to God was limited. Sin had created a separation between humanity and a holy God. But through the blood of Jesus, that barrier was removed, and a new way was opened.
In the Old Testament, God’s presence was in the Most Holy Place of the temple. Only the high priest could enter, and only once a year, bringing the blood of a sacrifice for the sins of the people. This showed how serious sin was and how difficult it was to approach God. Hebrews 9:7 explains that this access was restricted and required blood.
These sacrifices, however, were temporary and had to be repeated year after year. They pointed to a greater sacrifice that would come. When Jesus shed His blood on the cross, He became the final and perfect sacrifice for sin.
Hebrews 10:19 and 20 says, “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh.” Because of His blood, believers can now come directly into God’s presence without fear.
At the moment Jesus died, something powerful happened. Matthew 27:50 and 51 tells us that the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom. This veil had separated the Most Holy Place from the rest of the temple. Its tearing was a sign that the barrier between God and humanity had been removed.
The blood of Jesus not only provides access but also gives confidence. Many people feel unworthy or afraid to come to God because of their past or their struggles. But Hebrews 4:16 encourages believers to “come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Through the blood, believers are no longer distant from God. Ephesians 2:13 says, “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” What sin separated, the blood has restored.
This open door to God’s presence changes everything. It means you can pray at any time, seek His help, and experience His peace and guidance. You do not need a special place or a human mediator. Jesus, through His blood, has already made the way.
The blood of Jesus opened the door that sin had closed. Because of His sacrifice, you are invited to come near, to be heard, and to live in a personal relationship with God. The way is open, the invitation is given, and the access is secure through the blood of Christ.
