Bible Story: Jesus Fed a Crowd John 6:1-15
Life Point: Jesus helps people because He loves them.
Weekly Verse: Jesus loved people and helped them. Matthew 14:14

Materials: Teaching Picture 10, allergy alert sign, blades of grass or section of sod

  • Post the allergy alert where parents can see it when they drop off their kids. Display the teaching picture with the grass.
  • Tell the Bible story as preschoolers touch the grass. Point to the teaching picture. Comment that the people were outside, sitting on the grass.
  • Help preschoolers understand that Jesus helps people because He loves them.

3–Pre-K—Make Trail Mix

Weekly Verse: Jesus loved people and helped them. Matthew 14:14

Materials: allergy alert sign, O-shaped cereal, mini chocolate chips, raisins, marshmallows; bowl and spoon for each ingredient; ziplock bags; permanent marker

  • Post the allergy sign stating the ingredients. Pour each ingredient into a separate bowl with a spoon. Help preschoolers wash their hands before coming to the table.
  • Print each child’s name on a bag with the marker. Talk about the Bible story as preschoolers scoop ingredients into their bags. 
  • Comment that Jesus loved the people and wanted to help them. Talk about how Jesus helps us today.

Kindergarten— Cook Breakfast

Life Point: Jesus helps people because He loves them.
Weekly Verse: Jesus loved people and helped them. Matthew 14:14

Materials: kitchen center, toy pots and pans, toy dishes, empty breakfast food containers

  • Arrange the materials in the kitchen center. Invite kindergartners to cook breakfast.
  • Tell the Bible story as kid cook. Comment that Jesus knew the people were hungry so He fed them; Jesus loved them so He helped them. Say the Weekly Verse together.
  • Remind the kids that Jesus loves them and helps them have what they need. Pray, thanking God for Jesus’ love and care.
