For the second half of July 2025, add Michael Bentley, Shining in the Darkness: Philippians Simply Explained (Welwyn Commentary Series, Evangelical Press, 1997) to your Logos library for free. From the blurb:
Chained Paul might be, this joyful prisoner of the Lord never wrote more warmly nor more wisely than in this letter to his friends in Philippi. Yet the apostle is not blind to faults, even of loyal brethren for whom he has a special affection. Evidently there was some dissension in this lively Christian community, due to personal jealousies and animosities. Unfortunately, the same can be just as true today. The Gospel is still at times preached from motives of selfish ambition and rivalry. All of us are still inclined to look after our own interests only. And fine Christian workers are still quarreling. This letter serves as a firm word of warning and a guide for right living.
Logos sticks with an international, theological theme for the discounted books for the month:
- Dale Ralph Davis, True Word for Tough Times, $3.99
- Hugh Ross, Beyond the Cosmos: What Recent Discoveries in Astrophysics Reveal About the Glory and Love of God, $4.99
- Edgar Andrews, Who Made God? Searching for a Theory of Everything, $5.99
- Gary Brady, What Jesus Is Doing Now, $6.99
- Douglas Wilson, A Serrated Edge: A Brief Defense of Biblical Satire and Trinitarian Skylarking, $7.99
- John D. Currid, The Case for Biblical Archaeology: Uncovering the Historical Record of God’s Old Testament People, $8.99
- John Blanchard, The Complete Gathered Gold: A Treasury of Quotations for Christians, $9.99
- Philip Schaff, The Creeds of Christendom (3 vols.), $10.99
- John Gill, The Expositions of John Gill (3 vols.), $11.99
- Early Church Fathers Protestant Edition (37 vols.), $12.99
There are a few more Evangelical Press books on the sale list this month, as well as some “classics” towards the end. I cannot imagine any Logos used not owning Schaff, Gill, or the Early Church Fathers already, since they are often included in bundles. However, if you have a basic Logos library that lacks these classic collections, now is the time. My pick is John D. Currid’s The Case for Biblical Archaeology. If you are a Logos Subscriber, check out this list of additional books for free or at a deep discount.
This Logos Free Book of the Month promotion runs through July 31. A new free book will be available on August 1 at 9:00 a.m. PST.
Logos is running a sale for the next two weeks on new Special Edition Libraries (tailored for pastors or academics). These high-demand collections are packed with more value than what is typically found in our standard libraries. Save 20% now through July 27. And remember: if you own any books in the collection, you’ll automatically get a discount, since you never pay twice for the same books in Logos.
Remember that you do not need to upgrade to the Logos subscription model. If you upgrade, you will get access to some cool new AI tools, which may or may not be necessary. They have just added a Bible Study tool (similar to their sermon prep tool) that scrapes questions from your library to help generate a Bible Study or discussion. Discounts for older users to upgrade to a subscription end on July 31.
As always, you can use the (free) basic edition or the inexpensive Fundamentals collection to use these free and discounted books. Or, use the code SUMMERSAVINGS to save on any purchase from Logos.
