Logos Free Book for December 2024 – Stuart Olyott, What the Bible Teaches about the Trinity

Logos Free Book

For the first half of December, you can add Stuart Olyott’s What the Bible Teaches about the Trinity (Evangelical Press, 2011) for free to your Logos Bible Software Library. Stuart Olyott is the pastoral director for the Evangelical Movement of Wales. He is also on the Council of Reference of the Biblical Creation Society. He has previously held pastorates in London, Liverpool, and Lausanne. From the blurb:

In this brief book Stuart Olyott shows that what we call “the doctrine of the Trinity” is plainly taught in the Bible, and that it is the foundation for a true understanding of the Christian gospel. The book is written in straightforward language and is intended for the ordinary reader. Although it certainly shows us the error of the modern cults, its main purpose is to lead people to a better understanding of what God has revealed about himself.

This promotion includes a few other discounted books from Evangelical Press, T&T Clark, and Cascade Press. You will save an extra 5% on these books if you already have the new Logos subscription service.

  • James Arnie Nestingen, Martin Luther: His Life and Teachings, $2.99
  • Jim Savastio and Brian Croft, The Pastor’s Soul, $3.99
  • R. W. L. Moberly, Genesis 12–50 (Old Testament Guides), $4.99
  • John Blanchard, Major Points from the Minor Prophets, $5.99
  • Dan Cohn-Sherbok, Messianic Judaism: A Critical Anthology, $6.99
  • John Blanchard, The Complete Gathered Gold: A Treasury of Quotations for Christians, $7.99
  • Gordon Keddie, A Study Commentary on John, 2 vols. (Evangelical Press Study Commentary), $8.99
  • Jonathon Lookadoo, The Epistle of Barnabas: A Commentary (Apostolic Fathers Commentary), $9.99
  • Marijn de Kroon, The Honour of God and Human Salvation, $9.51
  • John Piper, 27 Servants of Sovereign Joy, $11.99
  • Lewis Payton, Esther (International Critical Commentary, 1908) $12.99
  • Curt Daniel, The History and Theology of Calvinism, $13.99

A few commentaries, some church history, and systematic theology…something for everyone in this month’s list of cheap books from Logos. I would avoid the ICC Commentary on Esther (published in 1908). R. W. L. Moberly, Genesis 12–50 is good (although a slender volume). But the real highlight for me is Jonathon Lookadoo, The Epistle of Barnabas. I have read the Didache volume in that series, and it was excellent. How often to you get a Barnabas commentary for $10?

These deals expire on December 15, so head to the sale page and add them all to your library!

Some people have been confused by the change in the pricing model. Yes, you still get to keep all your books. You do not need to upgrade to a subscription model. The subscription allows Logos to deliver upgrades every few months rather than every two years. If you do not like subscriptions, then don’t subscribe. Nothing will change. If you upgrade, you will get access to some cool new AI tools, which may or may not be necessary. They just added a Bible Study tool (like their sermon prep tool) that scraps questions from your library to help generate a Bible Study or discussion.

As always, you can use the (free) basic edition or inexpensive Fundamentals collection to use these free and discounted books. If you do not already have Logos, you can save 20% on any Logos 10 package (Silver and above) if you do not already own Logos Bible Software.  Check out my first-look review of Logos 10.
