A Week in Paris–Part Eighteen (the Park)

1 month ago 27

On our first day in Paris we went for a walking tour in the Luxembourg Garden and adjacent streets, with the plan to end up where Yuliya teaches, namely the Sorbonne.  This is an enormous garden/park, and Parisians spend a good deal of time in these places– doing exercise, playing soccer, reading a novel, eating lunch etc. Here’s the fountain..

At the other end of the park there is what once was a palace.

There is even a triumphal arch in the middle, not to be confused with the arche d’ Triomphe.

And there is a sailing pool as well…

And there is a fountain with statues…

So much is within walking distance in this portion of the city, including the market….

Liver anyone?

And frankly there are too many tempting shops near by…

I mean how you turn down some real chocolate mousse!

But maybe you need some Tums afterwards… no problem,

and finally the court leading to the Sorbonne…

With all this rich food around, even the pigeons end up being obese!
