A True Cliff Hanger

2 weeks ago 31

After writing so many thrillers, John Grisham realized he needed to get to a place of fresh inspiration, a place where he could imagine a real cliff hanger. And so it was that he decided he would try a secluded spot in the Blue Ridge Mountains just above Lake Lure, soak up the ambiance and vib of the place, a place where one could feel the danger and suspense.  And so while his wife was enjoying cheering for the Tar Heels back in Charlottesville and elsewhere,  John spent six weeks in this spot. Having completed the draft of the new novel, there was just one problem– having been lowered down from above to this rock shelf, how the heck was he going to get out of this spot since the rope to the top had been blown off the ledge about a week ago, and the cellphone signal was so weak, and his portable charger was no its last charge….. John thought to himself– ‘this is too close to the reality of a cliff hanger for me’.   Stay tuned for the story of his rescue by a crazy repeller in another episode of  ‘As the Stomach Turns’.
